In short: we collect only what we need to connect you with a professional and complete your booking. We do not sell your personal information. Please read the sections below for the full details.
About this policy
This document is published under the Information Technology Act, 2000, which requires intermediaries to publish the rules, privacy policy and terms for use of their website. It is governed primarily by Rule 3(1) of the Information Technology (Intermediaries Guidelines) Rules, 2011 and the Information Technology (Reasonable Security Practices and Procedures and Sensitive Personal Data or Information) Rules, 2011.
Your consent
By accessing our website and continuing to use it, you expressly consent to Home Maintenance Company collecting, maintaining, using, processing and disclosing your personal and other information in accordance with this Privacy Policy.
Our commitment
We intend to protect the privacy of all our users, whether or not they are registered with us, and the privacy of the data they give us. Whether you are a former or existing registered user or only a visitor, your privacy is important to us and we are committed to keeping your personal information secure.
To provide quality services, our website collects basic personal information that allows us to identify you as a user and understand your requirements. Some of our services may direct you to websites run by third parties. Information you give on those websites is handled under their own privacy statements. This policy covers only the information shared with us, and we are not bound or liable for information you share on third-party websites. Please review the privacy policy of any third-party website before you use it, and be careful about what personal information you disclose there.
Information we collect
Personal information
Service professionals. If you register as a professional (for example a technician, contractor or other service associate), we ask for your name, email ID, personal phone number, password, location and gender. You may also share a photograph, at your own discretion, to help customers identify you. This information is shown on the website as part of search results.
Customers. If you are a customer looking to connect with a professional, we collect your name, mobile number, email ID, address, details of your requirement and location. This information is shared with professionals on a limited basis so the two of you can connect faster.
Payments. To complete certain transactions we may ask you to submit credit or debit card or bank account details through a secure third-party payment gateway. In some cases we may collect your bank details so that money can be transferred to you by NEFT. This information is kept strictly confidential.
Feedback and public content. We also collect feedback, suggestions, views and comments you volunteer on our pages. Anything you post publicly is available to all visitors, so please use discretion. Such information can be misused, and we disclaim any liability or claim arising from its use or misuse by any third party or any party not known to us.
Login. To be recognised as a registered member you log in with your mobile number and OTP, or your email and password where offered. You may ask the website to remember you so you do not have to log in each time. We never share your email or password with anybody, inside or outside the company.
Other communication. Information you exchange with us in writing, such as email replies, feedback and participation in discussions, is treated as confidential and is for our exclusive use. Our website does not collect information about you unless you specifically and knowingly provide it. We do not trade or sell your information, except as stated in this policy or where we have asked for and received your express consent.
Cookies
Like other commercial websites, we use standard technology called cookies, together with web server logs, to collect information about how the website is used. Cookies are small pieces of information stored by your browser on your device. They are read only by the server that placed them and cannot run programs, plant viruses or harvest your personal information.
Cookies let our servers recognise your device when you return, including the date and time of visits, pages viewed and time spent. They also verify your login during a session so you do not need to enter your details repeatedly, and help us suggest services that may interest you. This information is collected in aggregate and is not associated with you as an individual. You can control cookies through your browser settings, but blocking our cookies may disable some features and make certain services unusable.
Session data
We automatically log generic information about your device's connection to the internet, called session data. It includes your IP address, operating system, browser type and your activity on the website. It is anonymous and not linked to personal information. We use it to understand what visitors click, how many visit each page, how long they stay and how often they return, and to diagnose server problems. Although it does not identify you personally, an IP address can reveal your internet service provider and the approximate location of your connection.
Other uses of your details
We may add or improve products and services from time to time. When you use them, we use the information you provide to deliver what you asked for. For example, if you email us a question, we use your email address, name and the nature of the question to reply. We may also store and publish such information to make the site better and easier to use.
Social media and promotions
Our presence on social networking sites such as LinkedIn, Facebook, X, YouTube and Instagram is only a promotional initiative to invite registrations and participation from customers across the country. Links there may direct you to our website or ask for your feedback. We disclaim any liability arising from use or misuse of your feedback, suggestions or views on those platforms by any third party.
How we use your information
Your information may be used by us and by authorised third parties and service partners to support your interaction with us and to provide the services and products we offer, including to confirm and complete your booking, contact you about your service, improve our services and meet legal requirements.
By submitting your personal information you acknowledge and consent to our using and processing it in a manner we consider appropriate. This may include data analysis, research based on reviews, and transferring your information to third-party experts to whom we outsource services offered to you.
Sharing your information
We share your details only with the professional assigned to your job and with service providers who help us run the business, such as hosting and payment partners. We do not sell your personal information.
How we protect your information
We use commercially reasonable efforts and general industry standards to protect your personal information from unauthorised access or disclosure. Access is limited to our personnel and to authorised third parties who host your data on our behalf or help us provide the services you request. We use our best endeavours to maintain physical, electronic and procedural safeguards against loss, misuse, damage, modification and unauthorised access or disclosure.
However, no internet site can fully eliminate security risks. We assume no liability for any disclosure of personal information caused by unauthorised third-party access or other acts or omissions beyond our reasonable control.
Content you post publicly
Content you store, post or transmit on or through our website, such as forum posts, your profile page and images you upload, may be accessed by other users, registered or not, including people you do not know. The purpose is to improve your experience and give you a platform to meet and interact.
Such content may be misused by a party unknown to you, and we disclaim liability for that. Please take care when communicating with other users and share information only with people you trust. Do not assume that your content will be kept private.
When we may disclose information
We reserve the right to disclose information we have collected, without your consent and without liability to you, when required or permitted by law and when we have a good-faith belief that disclosure is necessary to:
- comply with a law enforcement investigation, current judicial proceeding, court order or legal process served on us;
- meet legal requirements, or comply with reporting to administrative and judicial authorities;
- protect and defend the rights or property of Home Maintenance Company or its users;
- share it with persons or companies who provide support services to us; or
- share it with persons or companies who share certain responsibilities or obligations with us.
Your choices
You can ask us to correct or delete your information at any time through the contact page or by email at [email protected]. We keep your data only as long as needed for the purposes described above or as required by law.
Changes to this policy
This policy is a general statement of how we aim to protect your personal information. For specific products or services we may give you separate privacy statements that replace or add to this policy. We may change this policy from time to time, without your consent, to reflect changes in how we collect and use personal information. A revised policy takes effect as soon as it is posted on the website unless stated otherwise.
You are bound by the revised policy, and it is your responsibility to check it from time to time. Not knowing about a revision is not a defence in any proceeding relating to this policy.
